Your Arrival
If you are travelling to Germany by train or aeroplane:
Please inform us as soon as possible about your precise travel info. Upon request we will help you with the bookings.
Our driver will be waiting for you at the station or airport. He will bring you to your ward in the hospital and will inform the nurse that you have arrived. The nurse will explain to you the further proceedings in the ward.
If you are travelling by car:
Check out the "Your Way to Us" section and you will find a map which will direct you to our hospital. After arrival, please proceed to the reception in the entrance hall. The staff member there will inform the ward; a nurse will meet you in the foyer, and she will accompany you to your ward and explain the further proceedings to you.
General Contract Conditions
The General Contract Conditions (GCC) constitute the legal basis for your treatment. Formal and financial matters between you and the hospital supporting body are laid down according to the legal regulations rendered in the German Civil Code.
By signing the treatment contract you accept the General Contract Conditions of our hospital.
Cost Regulations
All costs that may be incurred during your stay are laid down in a special contract. If you are interested in a certain service, please get in touch with us: we will contact you as soon as possible.
Optional Services
In order to meet your individual requests and requirements, we offer you various optional services which exceed the standard services of the hospital. These services have to be agreed upon separately in writing.
The following optional services are available in our hospitals:
treatment by a senior physician
accommodation in a single-bed room
provision of a telephone
accommodation and board of an accompanying person
Your Treatment
The senior physician of the department is responsible for your treatment. In addition to the consultant and the ward doctor he watches your convalescence. Apart from the daily round by your ward physician, the senior physician or a consultant will carry out rounds of the ward in regular intervals.
During the rounds, the physician obtains an impression of your state of health. For this reason, we kindly ask you to remain in your room at the round times indicated.
Your doctors will be happy to answer questions on your illness and the treatment. Prior to a medical intervention you will be asked for your consent; please have the interventions explained to you beforehand. Do not hesitate to ask any questions openly: confidence is the basis of a successful treatment.
Medicine in the Hospital
New medicine may be prescribed to you in the hospital: please take all medicine prescribed here at the times indicated. It is important that you do not take any other medicine advised or prescribed otherwise: incompatibilities could occur which may jeopardise your treatment or could even endanger your life.
Please also keep in mind that not all international medicine is available immediately. Procurement may take several days. For this reason, please bring along a sufficient quantity, if you are taking medicine in regular intervals or are dependent on certain medicine (vital medicine for about a week). We will try to obtain the corresponding medicine as soon as possible or we will offer you a German equivalent.
In any case bring along a list with the medicine you regularly take. It is indispensable that this list contains the active substances as the drugs differ in name and manufacturer in different countries as a rule. Your attending doctor will certainly help you draw up this list.
After your discharge from hospital, the doctor continuing the treatment will probably prescribe medicine which will differ in appearance or composition from the medicine you received in hospital. Please trust your family doctor; he knows which medicine is right for you after the stay in hospital.
Your Nursing Care
Apart from the medical treatment, good nursing care is an important prerequisite for your convalescence.
During your stay with us you will have most contact to our nurses. By rendering reasonable care, they want to give a feeling of security and the certainty that you are not left alone with your illness.
Some of our nursing staff have been trained especially for the stay of international patients. If you have any problems or questions, please get in touch with these staff members.
Paging System
Doctors and nurses can be called at any time by means of the paging system. However, please take into consideration that emergency cases and severely ill patients have priority. For this reason, it is possible that the staff cannot always attend to your requests immediately.
To call for help, simply press the emergency button at the bed or in the bathroom, (ohne Komma) for example. The member of staff in the nursing centre (COM centre) will note your request and will immediately forward it to the correct body. In this way it is ensured that you will get the corresponding help as soon as possible.
Tell Us What is Bothering You
We wish you to speak openly with your doctor, the nurses, if you feel misunderstood.
It is our aim that - health conditions permitting - you feel well in our hospital. For this reason: talk to us.
Guests and Visitors
Your visitors are also cordially welcome, of course. The feeling of not being isolated from your family and friends will contribute to your well-being and your convalescence.
However, contacts will assist in your recovery only if your guests show consideration for your state of health. For further information check the point "Accompanying Persons" in the next section.
Discharge
We are pleased when your health has been restored to such an extent that the doctor can request your discharge and treatment in hospital is no longer required.
On the day of discharge you will receive a letter detailing your diagnosis, the therapy, the medication as well as a recommendation for further treatment from the ward physician. At home you should give this letter to your doctor so that he can arrange any further treatment, if and when necessary.
Prior to your departure, please contact the member of staff at the reception to pay for the hospital costs incurred as well as to return your telephone card (remaining credit / deposit). The competent commercial clerk will hand you your invoice prior to your discharge, if nothing to the contrary has been arranged.
Further Treatment
If you need further treatment (rehabilitation), we will be pleased to recommend a suitable hospital. For many years we have been co-operating with several rehabilitation institutions so that we can recommend a suitable hospital for every clinical situation.
